Origin Pils malt is a German style base malt that is fully modified and is ideal for lagers and a variety of other styles of beer. The barley is grown by Origin and its fifth-generation farm in Strathmore, Alberta. It imparts a light, pale-straw color as well as tasting notes of grassy, and mildly sweet.
Origin Prairie Pale is a high extract base malt akin to your typical 2-row base malt. It is perfect for all styles of beer. The barley is hand selected from Origin’s fifth generation farm to guarantee quality and ensure the best results on every brew. Prairie Pale has neutral characteristics, with clean tasting notes of lightly toasted malting, is a great selection for any beer style.
Origin Chinook Pale malt is a wonderful English style base malt that is pale in color and imparts notes of rich, nutty, and biscuit maltiness. It is the perfect backbone for any English style ale or beer looking for a robust, yet smooth character. Origin Chinook Pale is not an overpowering base malt despite its unique character. Selected from our fifth-generation farm for its premium quality, Origin Chinook pale malt is not to be underestimated. Often available in the grain room as our Pale Ale Malt.
Origin Vienna malt provides a more full-bodied experience to the finished product while still possessing our penchant for a smoothness. This premium base malt can be used for the entirety of a grain bill or as an accent to assist with creating a full-bodied beer. Origin Vienna malt imbues your beer with hues of gold while contributing warm, biscuit maltiness.
Origin Munich is a rich, aromatic malt perfect for the beer looking to pack a little more of a punch. With toasted notes of reserved sweetness this malt is perfect as the mid body for your more flavorful beers. With an average SRM of 10, Origin Munich malt imparts a beautiful color to any ale or lager. Use it as a SMASH beer or as an accent malt for a rich stout. Origin Munich’s more high kilned tasting notes can stand alone or serve as a major flavor component to any beer.
Origin Dark Munich is produced with the same process as the Munich light. The only difference being the curing temperature at the end of kilning is higher than the Munich light giving you a darker colour, as well as a rich toasty flavour.
Origin Sweet malt is the newest offering from our malting team. Intended to add intense notes of honey and rich malt sweetness to the mid body of your beer, Origin Sweet malt is perfect as an accent malt to bring any ale or lager to the next level. A unique germination technique is used for this malt as well as long recirculated kiln regime to give this malt a complex flavour, this malt is sure to delight and add a deep orange hue to your creations.
